Caring for Your Timber Creation
Every LRM Creations timber piece is individually handcrafted with care. As timber is a beautiful natural material, a little ongoing care will help protect your piece and keep it looking its best for years to come.
Cleaning Your Timber
For everyday cleaning, gently wipe your timber piece with a soft, damp cloth.
If a more thorough clean is required, use warm water with a small amount of mild dishwashing liquid and clean the surface gently.
Do not soak or submerge your timber product in water.
After cleaning, wipe away excess moisture and allow the timber to dry completely before storing it.
Please Avoid
To help protect your handcrafted timber piece:
- Do not place it in the dishwasher.
- Do not soak or leave it sitting in water.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach and abrasive cleaning products.
- Avoid leaving timber products wet for extended periods.
- Do not place timber items in the microwave or oven.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or excessive heat.
- Store your timber piece somewhere clean and dry when not in use.
Caring for Serving & Cheese Boards
After use, remove food residue promptly and gently hand wash your board.
Allow it to dry thoroughly before putting it away. Where possible, allow air to circulate around both sides of the board while drying rather than leaving it lying wet on a bench.
Never leave your board soaking in a sink, as prolonged exposure to water can cause natural timber to swell, warp, split or crack.
Maintaining Your Timber
Our kitchen timber pieces are finished with Feast Watson Kitchen Timber Wax, containing Australian beeswax, to help protect and nourish the timber while enhancing its natural beauty.
Over time and with regular use and washing, your timber may begin to look or feel a little dry. When this happens, it may benefit from another application of a suitable kitchen timber wax.
For best results, follow the manufacturer's directions when applying any timber-care product.
For items intended to come into contact with food, always ensure any maintenance product you use is suitable for kitchen timber and its intended use.
If you're ever unsure about what to use on your LRM Creations timber piece, please contact us before applying a product and we'll be happy to help.
Natural Timber Is Unique
Timber is a natural material, which means no two pieces will ever be exactly alike.
Variations in grain, colour, knots and natural markings are part of the beauty and character of real timber. These natural differences help make every handcrafted LRM Creations piece unique.
Timber can also naturally respond to changes in temperature, moisture and humidity over time. Following the care instructions above will help protect your piece and keep it looking beautiful.
